Community of Practice (CoP) for Faculty Executives
The CoP Meetings serve as collaborative platforms where faculty members come together to share insights, exchange knowledge, and enhance their professional development. They feature diverse topics suggested by members and facilitated by subject matter experts from McMaster. Our aim is to create an inclusive environment that fosters learning, growth, and leadership development among our faculty community.
Past topics have include: Department Finances, The New Reality of the Faculty Staff Relationship, Managing Underperforming Staff, Leadership Challenges During COVID-19, Managing Difficult Faculty Behaviors, Wellness at Work, Coaching, Indigenous Reconciliation and Joy in Work.
Senior Leadership Retreats
Faculty Affairs hosts an annual Senior Leadership Retreat, an all-day event designed for FHS Senior Leaders to engage in strategic discussions, share best practices, foster collaboration, and network with peers. This retreat provides a unique opportunity for senior leaders to explore emerging trends, address challenges, and strengthen leadership capabilities within FHS.
Past topics have included: Respectful Conduct, Innovation, Commercialization, & Entrepreneurship (ICE), The Future of Work, Inclusive Leadership, Leadership: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly and Human Rights 101 – What You Need to Know as Academic Health Science Leaders.
Senior Leadership Onboarding Program Contact Us
The Senior Leadership Onboard program offers a self-directed and personalized orientation experience, guiding and supporting senior academic leaders as they transition into new roles within FHS. This fully online program provides access to relevant resources, supports, and connections, encouraging leadership development over a 6-18 month period. The program, structured into four modules accessible through the QUEST platform, culminates in mentorship and coaching connections to further support leaders in their onboarding journey.
