A Message From Mark Walton, Vice-Dean, Faculty Affairs
As the inaugural vice-dean, Faculty Affairs, it is often exciting and unnerving to take on such an integral role. My initial time in the role involved the establishment of structures and supports to keep workplace culture at the forefront. Our team has generated much positive momentum for the Faculty and I’m very pleased with all that we have been able to accomplish since its establishment in 2017. We have faced unique challenges due to the pandemic, pivoting our entire portfolio to an online platform, supporting the increased need for faculty well-being and the creation of two high-profile leadership positions within the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS). The need for equitable and inclusive practices, resilience and excellence in teaching and learning will continue to propel our unit forward to develop initiatives and programs tailored to our leading McMaster faculty members. The past and future success of our unit resides on our collaborative partners and dedicated faculty and staff. I look forward to the next phase of our growth and continued support of faculty success, well-being and academic advancement within the Faculty of Health Sciences.
